Sustain-Rise: Building Resilient Communities
The Sustain-Rise: Building Resilient Communities project, led by the Maru Action Development Foundation (MADF) through it’s founding Executive Director, Fred Marule with project funding from The Pollination Project, aims to empower communities in Kasese District, Western Uganda, to build resilience against climate-related disasters.
With a focus on locally-led initiatives and sustainable practices, this project addresses the urgent challenges posed by climate change and natural disasters like floods and landslides.
Key activities include:
- Establishing community-based early warning systems for disaster preparedness.
- Promoting climate-resilient agricultural practices to enhance food security.
- Forming community groups for waste management and environmental conservation.
- Building partnerships with local organizations and stakeholders to support long-term resilience efforts.
The project enhances community well-being, safeguards livelihoods, and ensures sustainable development through active community engagement, capacity building, and resource mobilization.
Through this initiative, Fred Marule and MADF team continues their commitment towards fostering just, climate-resilient communities, positively impacting over 5,000 residents in Kasese District.
